National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Child Care Center Owner: National Institute of Standards and Testing Lorax and Colimore were approached by NIST for the sustainable design and construction of their childcare center built on their Gaithersburg, Maryland campus. They had exceeded capacity in their old and outdated center, and wanted to ensure that the new building reflected the newest in learning space design, and sustainable construction to ensure operating efficiency, but most importantly, a healthy and bright space for the tiniest of building occupants. NIST exceeded their original goal of LEED Silver by incorporating more sustainable and healthy features to attain LEED Gold. |
